Women’s 1st XI are double finalists

Our Ladies first team, run and managed by our partner club at Berkswell and led by Sarah Ginn have succeeded in getting to the final of two competitions in the first months of the summer and play their respective finals over the next two weekends.

Firstly, this weekend at Newport in Wales, the 1st XI will be finalists in the national ECB run T20 club competition, facing opposition including a number of international players.  A few of the Leamington girls squad have played in earlier rounds of the competition, but this is a fantastic accolade for Sarah and her squad of talented players and we are backing them to bring the trophy home.

Meanwhile on Sunday July 1st, the 1st XI 8 per side Womens’s team will be finalists at Halesowen Cricket Club in the regional Super 8’s tournament, starting with a semi-final against Bloxwich Ladies.  Whilst our Berkswell and Leamington 2nd XI weren’t able to match their success in their group of the Super 8’s, playing a young team as well as giving Ladies cricket debuts to two of promising 13 year olds Amber and Sanjana, they acquitted themselves well and showed some of the promise ahead.

Beyond that, the 40 over per side Women’s Midlands League starts in earnest in early July with both 1st XI and 2nd XI in action from Sunday 8th July onwards.  Exciting times for all.
