One of the Most historic clubs in the country
Leamington Cricket Club is one of the country’s oldest established cricket clubs, with the first account of a game taking place on Wednesday 8 July 1829 when a Leamington XI played against eleven gentlemen of Rugby School on a ground near Newbold Comyn.
Shortly afterwards a certain John Wisden appears to have played regularly for the Club, and since that time the Club has prospered and hosted local, regional and national teams on its playing fields.
In recent years Charlotte Edwards, Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont have all played games at Arlington Avenue, and at both Boys and Girls levels Arlington Avenue’s two squares have hosted many many games…
Proud of our history, we are also proud of our reputation for giving chances to all and strive to create opportunities to participate in the game of cricket to all. This has led us in recent years, backed by our status as a ClubMark club, to create a Five Year Plan for the development of a thriving Women & Girls cricket section at Leamington Cricket Club.
